Baby Ethan staying cool

Ethan is the tiniest newborn Brown Eyed Photography has worked with. At 2oz lighter than Frankie- it's close but Ethan comes out a little smaller- and just as adorable! We met at Ethan's house (on a street that google maps doesn't know exists, interestingly enough) and enjoyed a couple hours of talking about the early days of being a mom and capturing the cute-factor of this little guy.

and this cooperative little guy even opened his eyes to get some awake pictures for his momma.

Thank you, Tara, for having me do Ethan's newborn pictures. Congratulations again!

Brand New Baby Frankie in Providence, RI

I had the pleasure of meeting the teeniest baby I have had the honor to do a photo shoot with. He was almost 7lbs at birth and soooo long with humongous feet (feet pictures included with his pictures on facebook). His parents have already settled into this whole parenting thing and they are so completely in love with this little man... but then, who could resist this guy?

I was so impressed that his dad already had Frankie figured out- he prefers to be upright. As soon as his dad would pick him up and start talking to him Frankie would settle right down in his arms.

And Frankie's dad has owns Cronin Construction so a shot of Frankie in his dad's very heavy tool belt made sense.

Thank you so much, Sheba and John...and Frankie for hanging out and doing some newborn pictures. I loved spending time with your newly grown family.

Sabina is here!

Sonja thought her due date was July 11. The baby was measuring for July 11. Sonja's previous babies both came early- one even came a whopping (not good) 10 weeks early. (Here you can see that his early arrival doesn't slow him down now!)
So when July 11 came and went.... and then some, Sonja was feeling very done. At least that's what she said. To everyone else she seemed impressively patient and even cool as the summer finally arrived in New England.
Ten days later the amazing Sabina arrived after a... wait for it... 1 hour and 15 minute birth process! - all vernix covered and looking like she was right on time. I am so excited that Sonja has a girl (a surprise) to balance male contingent in her family.

And a yawn...

Thank you Sonja, so much, for having me come and hang out with the very sleepy Sabina.

Love,
Sarah

New in New Hampshire

Remember Dani?
She and her husband, Brian, are the proud new parents of Miss Morgan.

Morgan was one of the few newborns to sleep for me. Most newborns are wide awake when it's time for pictures. Parents are always shocked that their previous sleep-the-majority-of-day-light-hours are now wide awake and not even close to sleepy.
Not Morgan.
She fell asleep soon after I arrived and stayed asleep for the majority of our photo shoot.

Her family is very excited to meet her. Right before I arrived Morgan's aunt, uncle, and 19month-old cousin left after spending the weekend with their new niece/cousin. While I was there another aunt/uncle arrived for a visit. And as I was packing up one of the granmother's arrived to spend the week with Morgan and the new parents! What a popular lady!
I guess I'm not the only one who can't get enough of tiny baby features including these perfect little hands...

Congratulations Brian and Dani. Morgan is adorable! I am so excited to watch her grow into her own little person. Thank you for having me over to do pictures- especially when Morgan has so many others who want to spend some time with her.

Hello Keegan!

I know, I know I haven't blogged in.... well, too long.
Here's the thing: I was waiting for Keegan. I knew that he was coming any day and I kept telling myself that if I just waited one more day I'd have pictures of him to share.... and then that day would be over... but surely the next day he'd arrive....

Well! 42 weeks and 5 days of cooking time is what this boy needed. That's right- you didn't misread: almost 43 weeks! Sheramy is amazing!

And after a quick active labor there is a super super mellow baby.

I love love the baby feet with the very snuggly looking longies.

Thank you so much Sheramy for having me over to hang out with you and your family while capturing the uniqueness of Keegan's newness. Off to work on birth announcements for Mr. Keegan.

Welcome baby Jack!

John and Rebecca, Jack's new parents, contacted me a week or so ago to say they were expecting any day and wanted to arrange a newborn shoot. Rebecca knew she wanted birth announcements. I told her about the "Celebrate" Package (it includes 24 birth announcements). When baby Jack was just a couple days old I received an email telling me that Jack had arrived. Rebecca explained that she wasn't sure what time of day would be best for Jack. It's so hard when you're getting to know your baby and everyone expects you to already know them in and out.
We had the shoot this morning. Rebecca has learned over the last 6 days that Jack falls asleep as soon as he eats.

Not today. Rebecca felt bad but I insisted that all newborn shoots are like this. They take a while because baby needs eating, changing, snuggling breaks and we can wait as long as it takes.
Jack was wide awake for 99% of the shoot. It made it a little tricky because he, naturally, has opinions about where he wants to be (he prefers to lie on someone's chest, understandably) and we wanted to do crazy things like lay him on the fuzzy rug or on his adorable and soft changing pad. But it was worth working with his awake self because we got these very cool wide-eyed newborn portraits.

Rebecca has had both grandmothers at her house to help with the adjustment to the mommy role. Both grandmothers were so helpful and sweet but Rebecca is a natural at this mom thing. In all of the pictures in this blog post Rebecca is holding Jack underneath that fuzzy blanket.

Congratulations John and Rebecca. Thank you for having me over to do Jack's newborn shoot. Those wide-open eyes and blond colored hair... wow!

Poppy has arrived!

I was thrilled to meet baby Poppy at just three days old.
Do you see the poppy flowers on the blanket? Joanna's mom made Poppy a crib set that included this very appropriateate quilt.

I love personalizing photo sessions by including things that have personal significance to the person in the portrait. Joanna made Poppy an adorable hat.... and when Poppy arrived it was laughable how little the hat was in comparison to Poppy's head (the girl was over 8lbs after all). So Joanna speedily made a bigger hat. Poppy was 3 days old during this shoot and her mom had already made her a new hat. That's impressive. That is knitting dedication, that's what that is.

Remember Poppy's brother from http://browneyedphotography.blogspot.com/2009/01/waiting-for-poppy.html? He took a break from playing with his cars to hold his baby sister (who looks exactly like him, by the way).

Thank you Joanna (and Ethan) so much for having me over to do Poppy's newborn pictures. Off to work on some birth announcements for Poppy.

Baby Alexis

Remember Jenn and Peter?
Alexis was born the day after Christmas and she is a tiny adorable little bundle. Jenn said she usually sleeps all the time and she doesn't care one way or the other about taking a pacifier... until our shoot started. Alexis was not interested in sleeping- she really wanted to try out that pacifier.

I don't think it detracted one.little.bit from her cuteness.

And finally, all the excitement tired little Alexis out and she gave us the opportunity to get some adorable cuddly sleepy baby pictures- smile and all!

Thank you Jenn and Peter, once again, for having me do portraits for you. Alexis is adorable. Now I need to work on those birth announcements for you!

Welcome to the world Taven

Remember Courtney and Will?
They had a beautiful little boy just in time for Christmas.

Could he be any more adorable?

We met at Courtney's parent's house and their cat Zero wanted in on the picture taking. Do you see him in the background? This image makes me smile every time!

He looks so snuggly and peaceful. Love new babies!
Now I need to get back to the drawing board to make this little guy some birth announcements.
Big congrats, once again, Courtney and Will. He's perfect.

Cassidy is here!

Remember Brian and AJ from this post?
Well, I had so much fun this morning getting to know the newly born Cassidy.
Not only did she sleep for most of the shoot, making my job much easier, she is also incredibly cute and has a very patient Momma.

While Miss Cassidy slept we tried out all sorts of fun props... including this adorable hat that Brian's sister gave Cassidy:

And despite claiming she wasn't on top of her game today, AJ posed with Cassidy and looks wonderful.

Don't worry- Cassidy was awake for a little while so we got to peek at those huge eyes- so adorable.

Big congratulations, again Brian and AJ!
Thank you for having me over for Cassidy's baby shoot. I look forward to doing it again soon!
