Is it spring yet?

My potted Shasta Daisy thinks so.

I love snow.... but a balmy spring day would be very appreciated right about now.

Waiting for baby

The lovely Sheramy is expecting her second baby very soon...
During the first part of our shoot baby #1 (who is now a little over 2) ran around playing while Sheramy watched.

After Simon had a quick milk break he fell asleep and Sheramy ventured outdoors with me.
It was f.r.e.e.z.i.n.g! but Sheramy was willing to walk through the highest snow bank if it meant getting the image I wanted.

I think Sheramy looks so peaceful in this image.

Thank you Sheramy for being up for anything. Looking forward to the birth!

Poppy has arrived!

I was thrilled to meet baby Poppy at just three days old.
Do you see the poppy flowers on the blanket? Joanna's mom made Poppy a crib set that included this very appropriateate quilt.

I love personalizing photo sessions by including things that have personal significance to the person in the portrait. Joanna made Poppy an adorable hat.... and when Poppy arrived it was laughable how little the hat was in comparison to Poppy's head (the girl was over 8lbs after all). So Joanna speedily made a bigger hat. Poppy was 3 days old during this shoot and her mom had already made her a new hat. That's impressive. That is knitting dedication, that's what that is.

Remember Poppy's brother from http://browneyedphotography.blogspot.com/2009/01/waiting-for-poppy.html? He took a break from playing with his cars to hold his baby sister (who looks exactly like him, by the way).

Thank you Joanna (and Ethan) so much for having me over to do Poppy's newborn pictures. Off to work on some birth announcements for Poppy.

Waiting for Poppy

Back in the summer when Joanna and I planned this maternity shoot I naively thought we could do the session outdoors. In August it's hard to imagine how freezing it can be in January. Needless to say, plans were changed, and we had the session indoors instead. I love love how these images turned out.

I wanted her son to look at me but before giving him much instruction I noticed that he was looking at Joanna's belly instead of me and decided to click the shutter to see if it would work. I ended up loving this image!

Isn't Joanna's henna belly so cool? I love the design. She and I both hope it's still there for the birth.

Thank you again Joanna for a fun- if not slow shoot (due to some technical difficulties). Your patience was much appreciated. I'm so looking forward to the birth and meeting Poppy.

Alexis has birth announcements too!

I just wanted to quickly post one of the birth announcement options for baby Alexis.

Thank you Peter and Jenn for having me design birth announcements for you. Looking forward to seeing which option you pick.

Taven has birth announcements!

Courtney, Taven's mom, said she'd like to see some birth announcements samples... and she needed thank you cards too. So I included several options with her proof images. Here's a sneak peak at one of the announcements and one of the thank you card options. I'm curious to see which announcement and which thank you card she picks.

Baby Alexis

Remember Jenn and Peter?
Alexis was born the day after Christmas and she is a tiny adorable little bundle. Jenn said she usually sleeps all the time and she doesn't care one way or the other about taking a pacifier... until our shoot started. Alexis was not interested in sleeping- she really wanted to try out that pacifier.

I don't think it detracted one.little.bit from her cuteness.

And finally, all the excitement tired little Alexis out and she gave us the opportunity to get some adorable cuddly sleepy baby pictures- smile and all!

Thank you Jenn and Peter, once again, for having me do portraits for you. Alexis is adorable. Now I need to work on those birth announcements for you!

Wind, sun... and cold

Danielle was open to having an indoor or outdoor shoot. I tend to prefer outdoors- the lighting rocks and the background tends to be pleasing... but also cold and windy. I guess that is to be expected in Vermont at the end of December. Amazingly there was no snow!

We managed to spend a few minutes outside before retreating to Danielle's very cool purple bedroom.

Thank you Danielle for such a fun photo shoot. It was super fun to try out different backgrounds around your yard and I loved the purple walls.

Welcome to the world Taven

Remember Courtney and Will?
They had a beautiful little boy just in time for Christmas.

Could he be any more adorable?

We met at Courtney's parent's house and their cat Zero wanted in on the picture taking. Do you see him in the background? This image makes me smile every time!

He looks so snuggly and peaceful. Love new babies!
Now I need to get back to the drawing board to make this little guy some birth announcements.
Big congrats, once again, Courtney and Will. He's perfect.

Back in action

I'm back!
The holiday was family filled and relaxing. I still managed to squeeze in a few photo sessions.
My siblings on Christmas day...
and then a fun soon-to-be-senior
and a two week old baby.
Very fun.
Pictures to come soon- so stay tuned.
Also, don't forget to sign up for the e-newsletter to enter to win a portrait session and 8x10. I'm so excited to work with whoever wins the drawing!
