Sabina is here!

Sonja thought her due date was July 11. The baby was measuring for July 11. Sonja's previous babies both came early- one even came a whopping (not good) 10 weeks early. (Here you can see that his early arrival doesn't slow him down now!)
So when July 11 came and went.... and then some, Sonja was feeling very done. At least that's what she said. To everyone else she seemed impressively patient and even cool as the summer finally arrived in New England.
Ten days later the amazing Sabina arrived after a... wait for it... 1 hour and 15 minute birth process! - all vernix covered and looking like she was right on time. I am so excited that Sonja has a girl (a surprise) to balance male contingent in her family.

And a yawn...

Thank you Sonja, so much, for having me come and hang out with the very sleepy Sabina.

Love,
Sarah

They just keep growing!

Morgan made the long trip down to Brown Eyed Photography in RI last week for her 3 month pictures and I'm so glad she did! I didn't think the girl could get any more adorable but... yeah, she's even cuter! She is very wide-eyed like she's just taking the whole world in.

On more than one occasion the hand was in the mouth.... teeth, maybe?

Morgan's Daddy has been talking monkey since Morgan was in utero. Only fitting that Morgan is a fan of one of her many stuffed monkeys.

This girl only has eyes for her Mommy... and to be fair, her Mommy only has eyes for her.

Thanks so much Dani and Morgan for making the trek down. It was very fun hanging out with you! Can't wait to see you for the six month pictures!

This time last week....

... I was coming home from the 2009 Scott Kelby Photo Walk. It's a world-wide event where photographers of every level meet in their city and spend a couple hours looking at their city through the camera lens. It was very fun to connect with other photographers and see Providence in a different light.... mostly a humid and cloudy light.
Here are my favorites from the event:

Matt and Jen at...an undisclosed location

Only undisclosed because security wandered over to where we were and explained that there was concern that the locations name was being photographed. Sorry guys, it's not really about you- it's about this cute couple.

pssst... Matt and Jen were a little nervous about this... well, to be honest- Jen just claimed to be neurotic about various things- her wardrobe, having pictures taken... etc. I'm sure a comment on how not-neurotic they look would go a long way;)

Thanks so much, Matt and Jen, for a fun evening hanging out doing pictures... and then chatting for approximately 3.5 months post-picture taking:)

The star of RWP in Providence, RI

I met up with Iris... and her parents but it became apparent within moments that when it comes to being in front of the camera... it's not really about parents- it's about Iris. She's really really good at being a star, which surprised me because pre- camera introduction she was this mellow, non-hamming-it-up-two-year-old. Enter camera:

She was incredible! And funky shoes to boot!

Iris was busy showing me her belly button, exploring, and prancing around on a "stage" but she did manage to squeeze in a reluctant still moment with Mommy and Daddy.

You may recognize Iris and her mom, Alana, from the main page when you go to the Brown Eyed Photography website. Crazy to see how much Iris has grown in the last year or so.
She is a big fan of Roger Williams Park Carousel and soon after we arrived at RWP, Iris asked if we could go to the carousel. It was fun getting some shots of Iris high on her horse dragon:

Iris's parents, despite the lack of lime light on them, are super sweet with each other- see them holding hands behind Iris?

Thank you so much Iris and co. for having me do pictures for your family again. I'm already looking forward to our next photo shoot!

Kristine and Barry meet Summer '09

I think the very first summery day of the year was Saturday... the day I met up with Kristine and Barry at their adorable house for engagement pictures. It was so enjoyable to hang out with this fun couple early on a Saturday morning. We chatted about the wedding (of course), a crazy pumpkin plant that is huge in their front lawn and a result of a discarded Halloween pumpkin, and gardening... a wide range of interesting topics!

I'm hearing very positive feedback from engagement sessions. Most All couples say that they really don't like having their picture taken... and then about half way through the session say that they are feeling super at ease on that side of the camera and... actually enjoying themselves. I love having this relaxed time to get to know the couple a little more and "practice" for all of us- before the big day.

Anyway... enough talking- on to pictures... after all, that's why you're here, right?

... and with Kristine's birthday-present-rocking-chair. When Kristine suggested using the rocking chair that is sitting on a side porch, I was thrilled. If it comes up missing one day... it's not here, honest!

Thank you, Kristine and Barry for spending time doing pictures Saturday. I loved spending time with you and I am very excited about the unique ideas you have for your wedding. See you in October!

Brian and Laura around Burlington

Laura and I met freshman year at St. Mike's. Soon after she announced that she and Brian were engaged she contacted me about doing wedding pictures. I am very much looking forward to working with them, despite claims that they are camera shy.
All wedding packages include an engagement shoot. I think it's a great opportunity for me to get to know you a little better (although, I'm not sure in this case I need to know Laura any better;)) and for you to get to know me.
I met with Laura and Brian at good 'ol St. Mike's and we hit Lake Champlain, Church St., and St. Mike's for their photos. It was really fun to work with a couple of different locations for these two.
I know these two said they were camera shy but....

oh and...

and one more...

I've been having so much fun working on save-the-dates, invites, and a guest book for these two with their "camera-shy" pictures.

You guys are great... thanks so much for hanging out with me for a couple hours and having pictures done.

Happy Fourth!

Hope your fourth has been as relaxing and enjoyable as mine. I still have one more sneak peak blog entry from our week in Vermont that I can't wait to share! I plan to post the pictures of the finally-engaged-Brian-and-Laura in the next couple days. Just wait until you see their smiles.
In the meantime... Happy Fourth!

Emma in farm country

Emma was in town for her dad's wedding and wanted me to do her senior pictures. I was thrilled to meet Emma and even more pleased to discover how delightful she is.

Vermont Senior Photographer

Emma was fun to hang out with for a couple hours and up for any suggestions... she even came up with some fun ideas of her own.

New England Photographer

Emma, good luck in Texas next year... and beyond!
