Three sisters

Remember these sisters?
Today we had round two of their photo shoot. It could only very loosely be called a photo shoot- I'm going to be honest. Really these girls just hung out at the park for a couple hours and I captured images when the girls were up for it. The baby was always happy to pose.

The twins were very cooperative but also had their own agendas. Here is one of the girls sitting in a "tree fort" they found. It was a very cool hollow stump of a tree.

This happy girl wanted to be pushed on the swing. I offered to push but she wanted mom. So we made a deal- I would go get mom if she looked at the camera couple times. I probably didn't need to bribe her- she was happy to pose until I was finished.

Mehera, the girls mom, was thrilled to have nursing portraits taken. Last week baby girl was too distracted to nurse. This time I waited for a very focused nurse session before making these shots. I love Mehera's tattoo!

Thanks again Mehera for allowing me to make images today! Your images should be ready and waiting for you by next week at playgroup.

Massasoit State Park

Today I was thrilled to meet a family that has a 2 year old and a 5 month old- just like we do! They have two older sons too but the older boys didn't make it to this photo shoot.
Mom, was interested in getting some nursing pictures. Five month old baby boy nursed like a champ and was relatively focused. Often babies at this age pop off at any little distraction- having a five month old myself I could empathize! Even so we got some great portraits of this wide eyed boy drinking his milk.

While baby brother was drinking his milk big sister was off with Dad exploring Massasoit State Park. When Dad and big sister finished exploring they came to Mom bearing flowers.

These parents made juggling two young children look so easy. There were no melt-downs and everyone stayed photogenic to the end.

Meeting at Massasoit and working with your easy going family was such a great beginning to my day. Hope your post-portrait-shoot apple picking adventure was a success!

Belly!

How cute is this couple?!?

Aimee and Josh are expecting their first baby in 5 short weeks! We had so much fun talking about everything baby and baby-to-be. Well, to be honest, Aimee and I talked and Josh patiently posed and shared a relevant thought every once in a while.

Aimee brought different subtle pieces of jewelery- including this bracelet from her mother-in-law- that have special meaning to her. It was fun to be able to include these details in Aimee and Josh's maternity pictures.

For this shoot we met at the beautiful Acton Arboretum. Despite the fact that it's now September (not July, for instance) there were thousands of flowers in bloom. It was so beautiful. I managed to capture some of the flowers after Josh and Aimee left in search of coffee when the shoot was over. I snuck a couple of these flowers into the pile of images Josh and Aimee are getting.

Thank you Aimee and Josh for having me come and create these images that archive this miraculous time in your lives. I'm looking forward to working with you again when the new baby arrives.

no time for nursing!

When Shalonne saw that I was looking for nursing pictures to fill out my portofolio she offered to let me come and do a photo shoot with her and her son. Thirteen month old Red Sox Fan was too interested in life to take a break for some mommy milk. After a brief pit stop at the mommy diner this toddler was off exploring.

This smiley toddler was so easy going and fun to hang out with as he moved from toy to toy.

It was interesting to watch him play as you could almost see the gears turning as he processed what he was doing. It will be fun to watch as his personality continues to develop.

Shalonne, it was so kind of you to invite me to your home to photograph you and your little guy. Enjoy the pictures!

And then there were three

Debra recently agreed to have a nursing photo shoot with her adorable 3 month old. Despite the nursing couple's struggles with breastfeeding Debra has persevered. Her smiley baby makes all the work worth it.

This smiley baby was so photogenic and fun to work with. His mom and I were pleasantly surprised with how much he was willing to perform for the camera. He made my job super easy.

This beautiful family is adjusting well to their new life of three. Daddy Brian emerged from the office for a couple of quick family portraits just as baby was saying he was done.

Thank you so much Brian and Debra for having me come to take pictures of your family. Your little guy is cuter than words can say! He has such a litle man face already!

The Elephant Park

A couple of weeks ago mom-to-be, Joanna, mentioned that she was thinking about getting her 5-year-old's pictures done. With a little juggling of schedules we arranged to meet at a nearby park to take this little (or not so little) guy's pictures.

After taking some pictures in a small patch of grass this little man was ready to hit the playground. There is a HUGE elephant just outside of the playground where this soon-to-be-big-brother posed for the camera with no encouragement from me.

After some mohawk free pics it was time to hairspray the 'hawk. This cool dude even did a "rock out" expression because his mom asked him to despite his concern that it would be embarrassing.
I loved his crazy blue eyes, his easy going attitude, and seeing the very cool relationship his has with his mom.

Thank you Joanna and big-brother-to-be for a fun shoot at the park. I'm looking forward to doing maternity pictures in a couple months.

The blue eyed girls

I posted on Mothering offering free sittings to anyone who was willing to be included in my portfolio. The lovely Mehera from our fantastic Wednesday playgroup was very happy to volunteer. So part one of the blue eyed girls photo shoot was today at the park. The plan was to photograph the smiley baby nursing. She was too interested in smiling for the camera to bother with mommy milk. The pictures of this baby hamming it up were too good to pass up!

This baby has 3.5 year old twin sisters. Mehera warned me that one twin hated having her picture taken. She surprised us both by being as cooperative as a 3.5 year old at a fantastic park can be. She was running from the "bad guys" (aka the boys) but managed to squeeze in a smile or two for the camera.

The photogenic twin was not having such a good day. Even so, we managed to get some pictures from a distance as she kept a safe distance from me and the "bad guys".

Thank you Mehera for a fun photo filled day at the park. Your girls are beautiful.
