The star of RWP in Providence, RI

I met up with Iris... and her parents but it became apparent within moments that when it comes to being in front of the camera... it's not really about parents- it's about Iris. She's really really good at being a star, which surprised me because pre- camera introduction she was this mellow, non-hamming-it-up-two-year-old. Enter camera:

She was incredible! And funky shoes to boot!

Iris was busy showing me her belly button, exploring, and prancing around on a "stage" but she did manage to squeeze in a reluctant still moment with Mommy and Daddy.

You may recognize Iris and her mom, Alana, from the main page when you go to the Brown Eyed Photography website. Crazy to see how much Iris has grown in the last year or so.
She is a big fan of Roger Williams Park Carousel and soon after we arrived at RWP, Iris asked if we could go to the carousel. It was fun getting some shots of Iris high on her horse dragon:

Iris's parents, despite the lack of lime light on them, are super sweet with each other- see them holding hands behind Iris?

Thank you so much Iris and co. for having me do pictures for your family again. I'm already looking forward to our next photo shoot!

Happy Fourth!

Hope your fourth has been as relaxing and enjoyable as mine. I still have one more sneak peak blog entry from our week in Vermont that I can't wait to share! I plan to post the pictures of the finally-engaged-Brian-and-Laura in the next couple days. Just wait until you see their smiles.
In the meantime... Happy Fourth!

No Sitting Fee 2008

As the year winds down (it's almost Halloween after all and then it's just one big holiday until 2009!) people are starting to buy gifts (wait- you haven't started gift shopping?!).
As a gift to myself (and you) I thought it would be fun to offer to do all sessions with no sitting fee for the rest of 2008. Absolutely no obligation to buy prints. I'd love the extra practice (and the fun) of doing more photo shoots and I'm sure people are looking for holiday card photos, gift collages, etc.
So let's talk. You pick the location and we'll have a blast getting pictures like this one of you and your family (or the kids, or the new baby, or the cousins....).

The Elephant Park

A couple of weeks ago mom-to-be, Joanna, mentioned that she was thinking about getting her 5-year-old's pictures done. With a little juggling of schedules we arranged to meet at a nearby park to take this little (or not so little) guy's pictures.

After taking some pictures in a small patch of grass this little man was ready to hit the playground. There is a HUGE elephant just outside of the playground where this soon-to-be-big-brother posed for the camera with no encouragement from me.

After some mohawk free pics it was time to hairspray the 'hawk. This cool dude even did a "rock out" expression because his mom asked him to despite his concern that it would be embarrassing.
I loved his crazy blue eyes, his easy going attitude, and seeing the very cool relationship his has with his mom.

Thank you Joanna and big-brother-to-be for a fun shoot at the park. I'm looking forward to doing maternity pictures in a couple months.
